Metallurgical company Severstal, together with energy company E.ON Russia, considered various options for the construction of an in-house generation facility to supply power to Cherepovets Steel Mill.
The peculiarity of the project is the use of metallurgical gases (blast furnace gas, coke oven gas, converter gas) as fuel for the new CHPP.
EF-TEK was engaged as a consulting engineer. The services consisted of the following:
- analyzing current electrical and thermal loads;
- development of technical solutions for all variants of CHPP construction, including the use of steam turbine, combined cycle, gas turbine technologies;
- determination of the scope of work to connect the new facility to the UES;
- estimation of capital and operating costs.
